Beverage FAQ’s

What is the difference between a Beverage Package, Cash Bar, Consumption Bar or Capped Consumption Bar format?

The Red Barn’s Inclusive 5-hour Beverage Packages are priced per guest over age 21, pre-discounted, and are inclusive of tax and gratuity. The package choices are tiered starting with the Berwick Beer & Wine Beverage package which includes beer and wine selections as well as Pepsi products. The Hamilton House Beverage package includes everything in the Berwick Beer & Wine package plus a variety of standard liquors. The higher tier the package, the more premium liquors are available for your guests’ enjoyment.

With a Cash Bar, guests pay for themselves. All beer, wine and liquor options are available for purchase at retail prices, before the addition of tax and gratuity.

With a Consumption Bar, all beer, wine and liquor options are available to guests at retail prices. The applicable tax and gratuity is then added and the designated Host pays the bar bill at the conclusion of the reception.

With a Capped Consumption Bar, the Host provides the Coordinator with their budget for the Bar tab in advance. All beer, wine and liquor options are available to guests at retail prices. When the bar budget is met, tax and gratuity is added and the Host pays the bill after which the bar format is changed to a Cash Bar for the remainder of the reception.

Can we provide our own alcohol?

The Red Barn has a liquor license. It is therefore illegal to bring any outside alcohol onto the premises.

Can I swap liquors in between the Beverage Packages?

The liquors available within the Beverage Packages are priced accordingly. If you select the Hamilton House Beverage Package, you may add one liquor from the Cape Elizabeth package for a up-charge of $5pp.

Are signature drinks allowed?

Yes! Up to 2 signature drinks are included in our 5-hour Hamilton House, Cape Elizabeth and Casco Bay Beverage Packages. Your chosen signature drink/s must contain liquor/s available within your chosen package. We recommend limiting the signature drink to 3 ingredients or fewer in order to cut down on wait times at the bar and/or choose a drink which can be batch-prepared in advance. Frozen and blended drinks are unavailable. If you do not chose a 5-hour Beverage Package that includes liquor, we are happy to prepare up to two signature drinks for an additional mixing fee.
